AISS’s 47th Achievement Day was held on Friday, 5 April 2013. This year’s theme was “Dreams Taking Flight” which signifies both the staff and school leaders’ commitment to continue to challenge ourselves towards better performance and students towards bigger academic aspirations.
Due to inclement weather during this time of the year, the parade was held in the school hall. The NCC, NPCC, Girl Guides, Scouts, SJAB cadets smartly stood at attention while waiting for the Guest of Honour, Mr Stephen Chin, Principal of St. Gabriel’s Secondary School. Upon arrival, he was escorted by our principal, Ms Chew, our vice-principals, Dr Chua and Mr Michael and the entourage team. Both Academic and CCA Awards were given out to the deserving students. The most exciting and memorable part of Achievement Day 2013 were the concert performances by the Performing Arts Groups. The Chinese Orchestra, Concert Band and the Choir truly showcased their talent on this important day. The performances were cleverly tied together to the theme of "Dreams Taking Flight" by the skits done by our very own ODDS students. They won the hearts of the audience with their adorable and believable acting. The Achievement Day came to an end with the Dance Ensemble group performing the item “Little Thoughts”.
In overall, Achievement Day 2013 was a big success.

The Sports Carnival was held on 14 March 2013 at Bedok Reservoir Park. The main objectives of the Carnival are: Promoting Physical Activities, developing class spirit and teamwork, and, providing experience for learning personal and social responsibility.
The pupils participated in the both land and water activities. Water activities involved inter-class competitions in Kayaking and Dragon-boat races. In the land activities, pupils competed in Cross-Country races round the reservoir or participated in a series of Team-Games Challenges.
All the teachers and pupils had a great day in the park playing and learning.

AISS had her Community Day on 15 March 2013! It was a day where there were intense actions, both inside and outside the school.
After an intensive 9-weeks preparation, all students and staff headed out to realise their plans. Since January, through an intensive process of Service Learning, students found out community needs, brainstormed for ideas, contacted organisations and prepared for execution.
There are classes who chose to beautify the school environment, environmental crusaders who embarked on earth-saving projects, as well as caring citizens who made it a point to contribute back to the society.
It was indeed a meaningful and fulfilling day for all AI members and we hope our beneficiaries are equally elated.
